why use hudson powder

Introduction
At Hudson, we use a 5 stage pre-treatment process that is integral in providing our customers with the best finish possible. Each stage plays an important role in cleaning parts, creating an enhanced base for improved powder adhesion, and building up corrosion resistance. We use Henkel* products and monitor daily the chemistry of our tanks. With the help of Henkel reps, we are able to quickly and accurately adjust the tanks when necessary. By ensuring quality in the pre-treatment, we are able to offer the best quality finish available.

Stage One
Using Parco Cleaner 800, the first stage of the pre-treatment process removes oil and loose soils from steel, galvanized, and aluminum surfaces. The chemistry of Parco Cleaner 800 lends it to low foaming and the combination of surfactants gives it superior cleaning power. It also utilizes non-nitrite chemistry which has the added benefit of providing interstage corrosion protection.

Stage Two
Stage two is a rinse stage that uses city water. This rinse removes residue from stage one in preparation for stage three.

Stage Three
To compliment the cleaning of the Parco Cleaner 800, our third stage uses Prep N Cote GS 755. This iron phosphate pretreatment is sprayed on the parts, and provides a conversion coating on steel, zinc, and aluminum surfaces. This non-metallic phosphate coating inhibits corrosion and has a positive impact on the adherence of the powder coat. This adhesion is improved because Prep N Cote provides additional cleaning while laying down the iron phosphate base. It also minimizes flash rusting and furthers the protection against interstage corrosion.

Stage Four
Stage four is the second and final rinse stage in the pre-treatment process.

Stage Five
In the final pre-treatment stage, Parcolene 99X is used to increase the corrosion resistance of the metal surface. It is a Henkel patented treatment that is chromium and phosphate free and formulated for use over all types of conversion coatings. Free of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and heavy metals, it is equal to post treatments that do contain chromium.
